How to create virtual trailer (Support)

Description:

"Virtual trailers" is one of the solutions to monitor trailer detection instead of using a dedicated tracking device mounted in a trailer.

The main differences to other solutions are:

  1. The trailer object has fake IMEI assigned to it;

  2. The trailer object does not send data by itself, it is just a beacon that periodically sends an ID that can be detected by the unit in the tractor head and thus attached to it as a trailer in TT2, which then updates its position.

Prerequisites:

  • TT2 Client ID;

  • A list of Trailer plate numbers (object names)

  • Trailer IDs (temperature sensor IDs or BT ID) assigned to each object.

  • Location where the trailers should be located (i.e.: client's garage). If not important - our developers might create it in a random location, such as Ruptela office in Vilnius).

Steps:

  1. Create the object(s) using LCM under the client's Company.

    1. Take note that Phone number and IMEI shall be fake ones in order not to confuse them with real objects.

    2. HW type is irrelevant.

    3. Object delay should be left blank.

    4. Object type must be Trailer.

  2. Insert the appropriate ID.

    1. Trailer ID if you are using 1-Wire temperature sensors.

    2. Trailer BT ID if you are using BT beacons.

  3. Inform GUI about the object TT2 ID and provide them initial coordinates of the trailer (those will be used to show the object in the map before it is assigned to any tractor unit). Example: https://ruptela.atlassian.net/browse/GUI-34442

  4. Once GUI has finished inserting initial coordinates, the objects will appear in the map with the trailer icon.
