How to check if SSL certificate is valid

Since 24/3/2021 SSL certificates for Service Providers with custom rebranded domain are handled and renewed automatically by Ruptela once IT team is informed (like in this task IT-7318), some clients may still inquire if their SSL certificates are automatically renewed or if they need to renew it themselves. In those cases follow the procedure below to be sure.

Required information:

Service Provider name or ID

Recommended tools:

Application

Chrome browser

Steps:

2 – Search for your service provider name

3 – Click in Edit

4 – Scroll down to TrustTrack2 parameters

5 – Copy the URL present under Domain Names – Trust Track 2

6 – Open a new tab, paste this URL and hit Enter

7 – Click on the padlock to the left of the entered URL

8 – Click in Connection is secure

9 – Click in Certificate is valid

10 – Certificate popup will open, click in tab Details

11 – Check if:

Issuer = Let’s Encrypt
Valid to – Valid from = 3 months

  • If both statements are true, then certificate is already automatically updated every 3-months by our server and client does no need to provide new certificate in the future.

  • If any of them does not match the criteria, you will need to raise a task for IT to start automatic renewals (like IT-7318) so that client does not need to update them anymore.
