Description:

Instructions of how to upload and update device configuration.

Scenarios:

A- Upload a FULL configuration file (will include and change ALL the configuration settings of the device)

B- Upload a DIFF configuration (will include and change ONLY the settings you want to modify).

Steps:

A- How to upload a FULL configuration file on the air (OTA):

1- Create the desired configuration using Device Center or Advanced Configurator tool.

Note that the configuration has to be full, including everything that you would need and
connection settings. Save that configuration to have a file: Save CFG

2- Then upload the configuration file to server:

Go to "Device CFG Add" section, press choose file, browse Your computer to get the file that You have created and then select it and press "upload", an “OK” message should then appear below.

The object record should become red and "FW update status" column should indicate "Waiting for upload"

Next time the object sends a record the upload will start and the colour of the record will become green and the status will read "Uploading"

Note: In the two preceding statuses, you can always cancel the configuration upload by selecting the object and pressing on "Cancel" button on the top Config bar, colour will turn blue and status will read "Canceled":

If upload is not successful, colour will turn purple and and status will read "Timeout". Retry the upload again if that happens.

Once the configuration has been fully uploaded to the device, the colour will again change to brown and the status will read "File successfully Updated"

Note: If your device reports to a custom server, we need to redirect the device to our server for one time. Then the devices will take the configuration update and then disconnect from our server and will continue to send data to your server as usually after the update is done.

In order to redirect the device to our server, you will need to use the following SMS command:

"smspassword econnect APNname,APNuser,APNpassword,92.62.134.34,9015,TCP"

If your devices do not have SMS password in configuration, then ignore the SMS password part, just start the SMS text with one space before econnect. If there is just APN name (without APN user or APN password) then your SMS command will look something like this:

" econnect APNname,,,92.62.134.34,9015,TCP"

You can also watch a video record on how to update the device configuration using LCM from the following link:

B- How to upload a DIFF configuration file on the air (OTA):

1- Open Device Center,

1b- Go to Advanced mode

1c- Open a random configuration file of your device type (preferably the one your target device currently has).

2- Change whatever parameters you wish (note that the DIFF file will contain the modification instructions only of the parameters you have modified, the rest will be left as they are)

3-Then go to File and click on Save DIFF file.

The rest of the process is the same as in the FULL configuration file update. Go to step 2 of Scenario A.
