How to get terminal logs remotely

Terminal logs collect all the devices internal processes and are a great tool to diagnose issues with the device.

This article explains how to collect a log to Ruptela's dedicated log collection server for the Support team to analyse.

Important!: If device is acknowledging the SMS commands to collect and send logs but logs are not successfully collected in Ruptela server, please restart the server remotely using the following Jenkins job, then collect the log again:

Required information:

Phone number

SMS password

Steps:

1- Send the following SMS command to the device. Note: that the final number "60", refers to the duration of the log collection in minutes and can be changed depending on needs.

smspassword getlog 92.62.134.14,10103,1,60

2- You should get the following message: Getlog OK

After 1 hour has passed log will be already collected in the server.

3- Connect to Ruptela VPN

4- Go to the Ruptela log collection server:

5- Search the log by pressing CRT + F and inputting IMEI number:

Link name contains the IMEI number followed by the time the log was collected.

6- Click on the link to start the download of the log.
