How to modify device configuration by SMS (setcfg command)

Description:

This article describes how to modify configuration settings in the device remotely using SMS commands.

Please note that some aspects of the configuration cannot be changed by SMS:

Steps:

Note: For this method to work, the device needs to have enabled "Enable configuration over SMS"

1- Open Device Center.

2- Go to Advanced mode:

3- Go to File and Open CFG. Load the same configuration file from the device you want to modify. If you don't have it, just open a random configuration file from your device type (that has settings different than the ones you want to input).

4- Modify the parameters you wish. Note: if you don't modify them the change will not be contained in the setcfg command.

(in this case we set Time with engine to 30s as an example):


5- Go to File and click on Generate SMS.

6- Input the SMS password if the target device has one.

7- Copy the message and send it to the target device.

Result:

If the configuration was modified successfully, you will get the answer: “Configuration parameter(s) was set!”
