Description:

When unlocking via LCM (through GPRS or SMS) is not an option (SIM card is not working, device cannot be powered on, etc), there is a third way to do it via Advanced Configurator.

However, this method should be avoided as much as possible and only performed when there are no alternatives and always with the approval of both the client's sales manager and the head of support.

Necessary tools:

Required information:

You will need from client:

IMEI or object name

You will need to confirm with client and sales manager what can/must be unlocked:

Locked

Unlocked

APN

IP

Port

SIM card

SMS password

CFG password

Steps:

2. Locate / create object in LCM (if client is not using TT2, you can set the object to test company "Panda69"):

3. Go to Device CFG update, search required object, tick it and click on Lock/Unlock button:

4. Select SMS from “Method” drop down menu, select what needs to be locked or unlocked and choose any provider (the SMS is not intended to reach the device, we just need to generate it to copy it) and click on “Send” button.

5. Go to SMS, go to Outbox and copy the recently generated plock code (make sure it was sent to the target device)

6. Create a .txt file and copy both the device IMEI and the code separated by a blank space. Save the file and name it with the IMEI number.

At this point you are ready to unlock the device. Arrange a TeamViewer session with the client.

7. Copy .txt file to client's desktop.

8. Open Device Center and then Advanced configurator.

9. Ask client to connect device via USB, then select COM port, connect to device and click on Get CFG. You may need to input the Ruptela CFG password at this point (ask a senior supporter for it and BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO LET CLIENT SEE IT).

If you are also required to remove the configuration password and/or the SMS password from the device do it now:

If you are required to remove SIM card lock, do it now as well:

If the device is trully locked, APN settings and/or Connection settings should be greyed out.

10. Click on COM* and then type Crt + Alt + L. A new button will appear called "Plock"

17. Click on "Plock". A pop-up window will appear.

18. Click on "Link list" code and open the .txt file you created before.

19. Click on "Send command". Answer should be "command OK".

20. Click on "Send CFG". When message "Configuration update successful!" appears The process is complete.

You can doublecheck if the unlock was successful by disconnecting, reconnecting and getting CFG again and checking if APN settings or Connection settings are no longer greyed out.

20. Permanently delete .txt file from client's desktop (Shift + Delete)

21. Close Advanced configurator.

22. Inform client that unlocking procedure is complete and close Teamviewer session.
