How to update/check status of Extender for HCV5 Lite/Pro5 Lite devices?

Description:

For HCV5 Lite/Pro5 Lite devices FW and Extender needs to be updated in order to have devices functioning properly, especially when CAN2 is used. Extender should be uploaded in the same way as Firmware (FW). More information: Updating Firmware

HCV5 Lite/Pro5 Lite devices are built with 2 MCU (microcontroller units), the 2nd MCU is called "Extender" and needs to be updated via separate Extender FW.
To have these devices operating properly, FW and Extender should have compatible versions. Compatible versions of Extender with FW can be found in HCV5 Lite/Pro5 Lite devices' Change Logs:

Checking Extender version:

There are several ways to check the current device Extender version:

  1. Connecting via Device Center / Advanced Configurator. The version (EXT FW) will be shown:

  2. Sending the following SMS command:

pass info extver

Note: the word "pass" should be changed to the device SMS password. The word "pass" should be removed if there is no SMS password.

Checking Extender compatibility:

There are several ways to check the compatibility of the main MCU FW and 2nd MCU FW:

  1. Connecting via Device Center / Advanced Configurator. The status (EXT st) will be shown:

  2. Sending the following SMS command:

pass info extstat

Note: the word "pass" should be changed to the device SMS password. The word "pass" should be removed if there is no SMS password.

It will return the following values:

0 - compatible;

1 - not compatible;

2 - not responsive;

3 - not powered.
