New Feature Estimation process

When the client asks for new features for our device or platform that does not exist, we can offer a new feature development, by registering a New Feature Estimation (NFE).

This article describes how to register and escalate NFE.

Requirements:

Before registering the NFE we should receive a prepared business case between the sales manager and the client.

Process:

1. When the client asks for a feature, we should contact the assigned sales manager to ask for confirmation if we should register a new feature estimation for this specific case, this is needed since there will be many cases where managers know that a specific client will never pay for development.

2. Inform the client that this feature requires development and we already informed his sales manager in order to escalate his request further.

3. Once we get from the sales manager a confirmation to register the estimation and prepared business case, we should go to JIRA and create an NFE, with the sales manager as Request Owner.

There are 2 ways to register NFE in JIRA for
GUI - if the new feature is requested for our platform.
FWP - if the new feature is requested for our device.

Make sure to describe not only the required feature but also the actual problem that the client is dealing with, so Analysts can understand the requirement properly. Additional sales can help analysts prioritize tasks better.

4. Once we register the task, we can close the ticket as "New feature", further communication regarding pricing and development will be done by the sales manager.
